Call the town hall first, the town clerk's office at 508-634-2307. Ask them for the death certificate (usually about $5-7). OR you can call the Cemetery office at 508-634-1454 and ask how you can get the information. Hello I am wondering if anyone has info on Calvary Cemetery, Northampton Street, Holyoke. Does anyone know if there is an index available or a cemetery map ? I am researching a relative who was buried there in 1932. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance Maria Brennan
Maria, The Calvary Cemetery in Holyoke is a Catholic cemetery under the diocese of Springfield, MA. I had the fone nbr, but misplaced it. You can contact the diocese: I.carney@diospringfield.org or her fone is 413.452.0667. She will give you the fone nbr for Calvary Cemetery and you can talk direct with staff. Good Luck, Karl E. I just found this newsgroups and members may be interested in a little project I have been doing for the past 5 years. I have photographed, transcribed and indexed many of the cemeteries in MARLBOROUGH, SUDBURY, WAYLAND, HUDSON , SOUTHBOUGH. I am just finishing up Weston. If you want more details go to http://www.mindspring.com/~gchung/Cemetery5.html - there are links to the other 4 CDs I've created as well. Hi Charles , Hope this helps in answer to your recent email. MA - Middlesex - Cambridge Cemeteries - OldCatholic Cemetery* The No. Camb. Old Cath. Cemetery is located on Rindge Ave. I believe the cemetery is still open but with no office / staff or maintenance crews usually around. There is a Camb. Cemetery Office as follows : Dept. Public Works 76 Coolidge Ave. Camb. MA 02138 or 9 (617) 349-4890 However, records are at Holy Cross Cem*. Malden, MA : http://www.ccemetery.org/About/locations.html . In 2002 the cost was $10, required a written letter and took a few months. Some people confuse the Old Cath. Cem. with the Camb. Cem on Coolidge Ave. (not Old Cath.) where the above office is located and borders Watertown, MA. The Camb. Cem. is across the street from Mt. Auburn Cem. in Cambridge. As I recall, Camb. Cem. entrance is from Cottage St., Watertown which is entered just over the Camb. / Watertown line. Cottage St. has nothing to do with Old Cath. Cem. Happy ancestors searching, best of luck. Charles, Check out Rootsweb Tombstone Transcription Project for Middlesex County. Someone is in the process of transcribing the Old Burying Ground in Cambridge...I don't know if that is the same one, but you could contact him via his email. http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/massachusetts/middlesex.html If it the cemetery I am thinking of it is quite small and I drive by it a couple of times a week. Is there a particular person you are looking for? Has anyone had any luck in finding gravestone inscriptions from those buried at the Old Catholic Cemetery on Rindge Ave., Cambridge? thanks, Charles
My daughter and her husband are planning on being in Boston in October. We are interested in the old cemeteries where John Roulstone,I, d. 1624 in Boston, and John Roulstone, II, d. 1717 in Old Sexton Bills,(?) MA The time period of the burials we are looking for is 1611-1772. If you know which cemetery (ies) they should look in I would greatly appreciate this information. I hope someone can send us a name or two. Thanks for all your help, Jean Noble Jnoble86@msn.com<about:blank>
