I am traveling to Amesbury, Salisbury and Newbury next weekend to research the Downer line. Most specifically, I am trying to optimize the short period of time that I will be there. One relative Robert Downer testified in the witch trials of Susannah Martin in Amesbury and the information I have shows that his brother Joseph (my line) was from Salisbury. Does anyone know how to direct me to the older cemeteries in these cities? I would be most appreciate of any pertinent information. Thanks Teresa Henslee-Downer
That should be my old friend, Bobbie. The age is right. Any chance of getting in touch with her? hi there, My Mary Mabel Gove did have relatives in Mass.. , not sure which parts... do u remember any names, I can check them out??? never know... thanx, Charlene
This probably has nothing to do with anything, but I just can't help myself. I used to know a GOVE family during the middle and late 1950s, in Woburn, Massachusetts. If Mary Mabel had been related to that family, they might have had something to do with her burial. ? Friends, At the top of Old Burial Hill in Marblehead stands a fifteen foot high marble monument dedicated in part to the fishermen of Marblehead Who lost their lives in the Great Gale of 19 September 1846 off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. You are cordially invited to visit an addition to my web site, which lists the names of all 66 Marblehead men and eleven ships lost in this hurricane, including the fourteen names inscribed on the stone, with genealogical notes for most. Included are the names shown on two other sides of the monument, those lost at sea in other events and those who died on shore, also with genealogical notes. Please visit http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ccridland The new information is linked from the first page of my site by the words "top of the hill". Claudia Cridland
Hi, I am new to the list. I am researching information on Nicholas John Mason who died in Cambridge, Mass. in 1932. He was born in Catalina, Newfoundland 4/17/1864. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Margaret Boyce amboyce@optonline.net
Hi, I am new to the list. I was wondering if anyone lived in the South Hadley/South Hadley Falls area who might know of a cemetery I am having trouble finding. The cemetery is listed in many of my husband's ancestor's obits as the Village Cemetery, South Hadley Falls. I have been unsuccessful in locating this cemetery. Does anyone know of it? Thank you, Rebecca Fay
Lori Penrice - Thank you - God bless
Hi Carlton: I am not sure how he came to be called Leo Vance Carroll. At this point, I think Leo was born in California although I have yet to confirm this. My great grandfather's sister, Gussie Ray SCOTT was born in Nova Scotia. I know that VANCE is a common name in that province. I have yet to determine whether Leo's family moved from Nova Scotia to California or whether they were unrelated to the Nova Scotia VANCE family. Sorry I cannot be more helpful. Iam sorry I don't know where they are buried but I need to ask you if you know, where did Leo Vance Carrol abstain the middle name VANCE? Do you know? My name is Carleton Rogers VANCE, that is why I am interested. Thank you for your time. God bless, Carleton
I am seeking the cemetery in which two of my relatives are buried. It is my hope that I will be also be able to obtain a death date for both of them. Leo Vance CARROLL was born about 1891. Gussie Ray SCOTT was born on May 25, 1892. Leo and Gussie were married on December 25, 1912. I believe that both Leo Vance CARROLL and his wife Gussie Ray (SCOTT) CARROLL are buried in Boston. Thank you in advance for your help. Regards, Lori Penrice Milton, Ontario
