Dear List: I'm not sure if this question is too far off the track, but would appreciate any input. I am trying to figure out how the Tabitha Lutheran Home and Hospital fits in with my GGrandparents, LINA LYSTAD and JOHAN IVERSEN from 1905-1920. I'm not clear on if this hospital was also named the Deaconess Home and Hospital at one time. I know that her sister, HILDA LYSTAD worked there, as well as their close friend, INGEBORG SPONLAND (who was a Deaconess at the later Norwegian Lutheran Deaconess Home and Hospital). I have a Norwegian book with Tabitha Hospital stamped inside, along with the words "Tabitha Hospital from REV BLEKEN" . 1. Where can I find out if Reverend Bleken had a parish in Chicago area during 1905-1920? Or would his parish have been at the hospital? 2. Is there any information out there on Lutheran Religious Hospitals and Homes? Did they take on boarders? Were any records kept? Thanks for all your help. -Jody Researching: Poland: CIESIELSKI, CZERMAZ, CZERWINSKI, DRECKA, TWAROSKI Germany: GEBHARDT, KAMHOLZ, SCHWARTZ, SHOOK, STEFFENS, STEIG, THUROW Norway: IVERSEN, OLSEN, LYSTAD Sweden: NILSON SCHULTZ
