It appears that the new name is Svenska Kyrkan or Swedish Church. I first searched for Lutheran Church of Sweden, and was surprised to find that there are free standing churches that call themselves Lutheran, but the Svenska Kyrkan wasn't on any of the lists of Lutherans that I saw! If anyone is looking for the current names and addresses of the Swedish Churches (which are essentially the old congregations that existed in each parish) that exist today, they can be found at the above website. I find the listing at the "Riksarkivet SVAR" very useful when looking for parish names, etc. It is www.svar.ra.se This is a website from Sweden that has a catalog you can use to purchase or borrow microfilms from the archives of Swedish churches, or you can just surf the list to obtain information. The catalog section is easily followed, even if you do not understand Swedish. Go to www.svar.ra.se Then click on the words VÅRA PRODUKTER in the blue section on the left, MIKROKORT on the next page, and, finally, on the purple word, KYRKOARKIV. This will bring you to an alphabetical listing of all the parishes in Sweden that would be of interest to genealogists. One has to remember when searching, that the Swedish alphabet has 29 letters. After the letter "z" come å, ä, and ö in that order. I hope this helps............ Doris
