Pamela, I am in possession of a letter written in 1840 by persons living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia which mentions a family by that name. It isn't Daniel, but rather Reuben who is mentioned in this letter. The letter has been transcribed and placed online at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~mdtaffet/gibbons_letter_1840_03_22.htm Even though it doesn't mention the same individuals, I would like to point this letter out to you because of the difficulty I had in reading that surname. You will note that where this name appears, I had the following as possibilities for what had been written: "it is sead that Lou Price is to be mared to Mr [hingry ?? or lingry ?? or Pingry ?? or Phingry ??] he livd with Steven Conrad" Given the difficulty I had in making out what name was written, you may want to consider alternative spellings for records that have been transcribed. I should add in this letter that I finally figured out they were referring to Reuben Kingree (or Kingry which is what was actually written). By the way, the Conrad family also came from Pennsylvania to the Shenandoah Valley area, as did the Miller's and many others. Maybe they attended some of the same churches back in Pennsylvania. -- Mary Taffet List Administrator for LUTHERAN-ROOTS mdtaffet@syr.edu On Wed, 1 Nov 2000, Pamela Moats wrote: > Dear Lutheran Researchers: > > I hope there are some of you out there that can help me out. > > My ancestor, Daniel Gingrich/Kingry married Rosina _______ c. 1759 in > Lancaster County, PA. > > I have researched every avenue I can find from the Internet, the LCHS, > libraries, LDS, etc. > > I know that some of Daniel's siblings and cousins were married in the > Lutheran church, yet so far, I have been able to find nothing at all on him. > He and Rosina, and their 5-yr old son, Solomon moved to Shen.
