    3. Today in History (February 7): 1919 Johannes Schaller, president of Wisconsin Synod colleges, died in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin (b. 1859); son of Professor G. Schaller; graduate of Northwestern College and St. Louis Seminary; pastor in Little Rock (1881); Cape Girardeau (1885); professor at New Ulm (1889); became its president in 1893; he was an ardent and convincing advocate of parochial schools; on Hoeneke's death, he became president of Wauwatosa Seminary in 1908, taking the vacant chair of dogmatics; had a winning personality; author of a number of theological works; his death in his prime was a serious loss to Lutheran America If you wish to use these items, please get permission.
