Posted on: Lutheran Roots Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Special/LutheranRoots?read=25 Surname: BOLLING, SIMON, BAUER ------------------------- My ggrandmother's first husband was HENRY F. BOLLING (b abt 1860- d 6/14/1892). He first appeared in the Houston, Texas City Directory in 1887 as a clerk in a hotel which he subsequently owned. He married Miss MARY SIMON, Texas-born daughter of immigrants from Alsace Lorraine and Hanover, German respectively. Although their marriage records cannot be found, they are believed to have been married in the FIRST GERMAN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Houston. HENRY was active in Houston business and social life and his clubs included Magnolia Lodge #7, Sons of Herman; the Houston Schuetzenverin; Humboldt Lodge #2968, Knights of Honor, and the Houston Saengerbund Society. He died suddenly on a downtown street in San Antonio on 6/13/1892; news articles indicate that he was walking with a SAN ANTONIO friend named JOHN BAUER at the time of his death. Family legend suggests that he was appearing in a Saengerbund concert in San Antonio at that time. Funeral services were held in the First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, and he is buried in the Old German Cemetery portion of the Glenwood Cemetery in Houston. I am looking for his parents, siblings, indeed any information that you may have or suggest that I pursue. Thanks. Newton Brand, Houston
