Records from many of the early Lutheran Churches can be obtained through the Archives of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA): www.elca.org/os/archives/intro.html At the end of the column on the left of the first page you come to is a link that will bring you to information about how to borrow congregational records on microfilm. The fee is $15 for one month's loan. You can also buy a microfilm of the records, as long as you receive written permission from the Church in question. Of course, this is not necessary if the Church is defunct. I think the cost to buy a film is now $45. I've used these services several times, with great success. The archivist even sent me some pictures of the church in once instance! Doris
