    3. Hello Roger & other subscribers, Generally speaking, you should post your reply to board messages on the board itself, by following the link given in the gatewayed message, shown in the message below as: > Reply Here: > http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Special/LutheranRoots/83 The reason this is generally necessary is that most people who post messages on our GenConnect boards are NOT subscribed to the mailing list. Just sending them a reply through the list generally won't do the trick, as they are not subscribed and therefore will never see the reply. There are two good ways to reply to a GenConnect board post that is gatewayed to the mailing list: 1) Follow the web address given in the message to the board, and post your reply there on the board. That way, both the original poster and this list will see your reply. 2) Send your reply directly to the person who posted the message by sending to their e-mail address (in this case fritzhess@webtv.net). For reasons that should be obvious, the first reply method is preferred (because otherwise we would never see the reply here on the list). It just so happens that I needed to inform Terry that the post had been moved, so I took care of it by forwarding your reply to Terry with my note explaining the move. In the future, let's all try and remember to post our replies to board postings on the board. -- Thanks, Mary Taffet List & Board admin for LUTHERAN-ROOTS mdtaffet@syr.edu "RHOADS, Roger" wrote: > > There is an old Hess family in Darke Co., OH which has a Rootsweb miling > list. > > Roger Rhoads > > -----Original Message----- > From: terry fritz hess [mailto:fritzhess@webtv.net] > Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2000 12:39 PM > To: LUTHERAN-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [LUTH-ROOTS] benjamin hess > > Posted on: Lutheran Roots Queries > Reply Here: > http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Special/LutheranRoots/83 > > Surname: hess > ------------------------- > > I am looking for information on benjamin hess when he was in the civil > war( benjamin hess from columbia county in pennsylvania ) > > [Note: Board admin moved this post from the Wills board to the Query board > where it belongs.
