FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com ALC (American Lutheran Church) Lutherans no longer exist as such, they merged into the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) in 1986 or so. As we have many churches in Texas, yes, at one time there were ALC churches there. Many ALC churches were of Northern Eur heritage rather than German. The ALC was also the product of several prior mergers. It is difficult to really go into all of the differences here. John Dornheim
