Posted on: Lutheran Roots Obituaries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Special/LutheranRootsObits?read=7 Surname: Schwarz, Roseman, Deircks, Wetzel, Norson, Durst, Windom ------------------------- Greenwood Gleaner: --------JOSEPH SCHWARZ PASSES AWAY Joseph SCHWARZ, son of Josep and Mary Anna SCHWARZ was born on Sept. 2nd, 1866, in Austria, the section that is known as the Sudentenand. He migrated to the United States when 11 years old, with an older brother and a few friends and neighbors. When he was 16 he made a trip back to his homeland but returned again the same year. He settled in Manitowoc County working for farmers in that vicinity and later took up Railroad work. At Washburn he was married to Johanna DIERCKS in June 1887. One daughter and one sone died in infancy. In 1905 he came to Greenwood to make a farm out of a piece of woodland. His wife passed away in 1935 and since then he has been making his home with his daughter, Mr. Roy ROSEMAN and her husband. The services at the ROSEMAN home were conducted by Rev. NAGEL of Scholfield, an old pastor and friend of the Schwarzes while in Manitowwoc. Further funeral services were at the United Lutheran Church were conducted by the Rev. NORSON, with interment in the Greenwood cemetery. The pallbearers were Otto, Carl, and Louie WETZEL, Walter DURST, Oliver WINDOM, A. E. Preller. Flower girls were, Vera, Erna and Marie DIERCKS, Neillsville, grandneices of the deceased.
