    3. Posted on: Lutheran Roots Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Special/LutheranRoots/36 Surname: Kessler ------------------------- The posting a couple of days ago re: Central PA marriages, esp. in Union & Snyder Counties, 1700 to 1896, caught my attention. I am tracing a Kessler family that had a wedding in 1870: Isaac resided in Union County, and his bride, Dianna Kreider resided in Snyder County. However, they both worked on a farm owned by Samuel Walter in Union twnshp. His father was Benjamin, about whom I find no dates B4 1830 census. He proobably was married between 1820 & 1830. Also info on the Reformed Church: a Dreisbach church in Lewisburg was built in 1788. Help is appreciated.

    1. [LUTHERAN-ROOTS-L] TABITHA HOSPITAL, Chicago, IL
    2. Jody and Jeff Niles
    3. Dear List: I'm not sure if this question is too far off the track, but would appreciate any input. I am trying to figure out how the Tabitha Lutheran Home and Hospital fits in with my GGrandparents, LINA LYSTAD and JOHAN IVERSEN from 1905-1920. I'm not clear on if this hospital was also named the Deaconess Home and Hospital at one time. I know that her sister, HILDA LYSTAD worked there, as well as their close friend, INGEBORG SPONLAND (who was a Deaconess at the later Norwegian Lutheran Deaconess Home and Hospital). I have a Norwegian book with Tabitha Hospital stamped inside, along with the words "Tabitha Hospital from REV BLEKEN" . 1. Where can I find out if Reverend Bleken had a parish in Chicago area during 1905-1920? Or would his parish have been at the hospital? 2. Is there any information out there on Lutheran Religious Hospitals and Homes? Did they take on boarders? Were any records kept? Thanks for all your help. -Jody Researching: Poland: CIESIELSKI, CZERMAZ, CZERWINSKI, DRECKA, TWAROSKI Germany: GEBHARDT, KAMHOLZ, SCHWARTZ, SHOOK, STEFFENS, STEIG, THUROW Norway: IVERSEN, OLSEN, LYSTAD Sweden: NILSON SCHULTZ

    3. Dorene, Since the original message was posted to the GenConnect Query board for LUTHERAN-ROOTS, the person who asked about this is most likely not subscribed to this mailing list. Therefore, you have two choices for responding: 1) [Preferred method] Respond by posting a reply on the GenConnect Query board. To do this, please follow the link included in the original message: Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Special/LutheranRoots/32 2) [Dis-preferred method, but still possible] Respond by sending a private e-mail to the original poster, using the e-mail address provided in the original post: On second thought, I don't see one here, so your only real option is to follow choice number 1. If you don't, then the person asking this question will most likely never, ever, see your reply. If you do follow option number 1, and reply to the board, then a copy of your reply will also be sent here to this list, just as Helen's original question was. -- Mary Taffet List Admin for LUTHERAN-ROOTS mdtaffet@syr.edu "Dorene L. 3. Hello subscribers, This message is going to each list that I administer, so for those of you on more than one of them, I apologize in advance for the duplicate messages. I will be on vacation from Saturday 8/19 through till Wednesday evening 8/23. I may or may not have access to my mail while I am gone. If you are having problems with your subscription, etc., I will be able to take care of it late Wednesday, but not before. In the meantime, please feel free to post your queries. In a way, I wish I was going somewhere that I have roots to dig, but in another, I'm glad that I am going somewhere that I have no ancestors whatsoever that I know of (North Conway, New Hampshire) -- maybe I'll be able to relax while I'm gone. -- Until later, Mary Taffet Your list administrator mdtaffet@syr.edu

    3. There is a Christ Lutheran Church, LCMS, in Rochester, so you might want to check with the Concordia Historical Institute to see if they have anything on Pastor Roeder. I got a lot of my information there on my family back in the 1980s and I am sure that they have a lot more now than at that time. 3. Re: David Seefeldt's request for an address of the church in Allegheny, PA; according to my "Amerikanilcher Kalender fu:r dentlche Lutheraner auf das Jahr 1888...", the address was: 96 Middle Str., Allegheny City, Pa. (it was Missouri Synod) In 1888, a Rev. Fr. Wambsganss was pastor. The pamphlet shows only one church there, but it does not give me the name of the church. Re: Patricia Jones' request for a church in Jefferson Twp/boro, in Allegheny Co., PA; there is a listing for Pastor F. Brand, Braddock, Allegheny Co., Pa. (also Missouri Synod). This I happened to see just going through the pages. There are three Rev. Gu:nther's listed in this 1888 pamphlet (& one teacher Gu:nther), but none in PA. To look up someone or the address, I need the Pastor, Professional or Teacher's name or a community/town/city name to look it up. And the pamphlet has Minnesota, Missouri & Wisconsin Synods. But, again, there are no church names in the pamphlet. We found this pamphlet in our old house after Dad passed away. I was the fourth generation to live there.
