Posted on: Lutheran Roots Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Special/LutheranRoots/45 Surname: Greenthaner, Karsten, Henning ------------------------- I hope this helps. There was a First German Trinity (Evangelical) Lutheran Church. The church was originally at William and Milnor Streets in 1840 and known as The First Evangelical Lutheran Trinity Church. By 1867 it was on Michigan Avenue (between Sycamore and Genesse Streets). It was on of three churches which used Concordia Cemetery on Walden Avenue in Buffalo. This chuch has moved to 1570 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda, NY 14150-8433 as is known as First Trinity Lutheran Church. They are in possession of registers. My greatgrandfather, Joseph Greenthaner was married there in 1905. The marriage certificate listed the church as being on 653 Michigan St., Buffalo with Pastor August Senne. (I realize the pastors are different, but different years.) I wrote to the address in the first paragraph and received a copy of the marriage register for the marriage. (It is in handwritten German.) Good luck.

I have, for some time now, been trying to locate information on the above church in Chanceford Twp. York Co., Pa. Records are shown to cover 1773-1835 birth, deaths etc. I have tried to order the microfilm from LDS but have been told it is restricted. Does a list member have knowledge how I might locate a copy or is there any one who will do a lookup? I appreciate any advice. Thank you....Glenda

LaVerne, Thanks for your reply, but I would like to ask you to send it to the person who asked the question. That person is not a subscriber to this list. To do this, you really do need to follow the same link that was supplied with the original message. Since you did not include that message in your reply, I will attempt to paste it in here: Posted on: Lutheran Roots Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Special/LutheranRoots/38 2) [Dispreferred] Send your reply directly to the person who asked the question. One of the oldest Lutheran churches in Buffalo is Trinity Old Lutheran. Since the f, t, i, and j all look very much alike in the old German script, the certificate may read German Evangelical Lutheran Trinity. The present address of Trinity Old Lutheran is 3445 Sheridan Drive, Eggertsville, NY 14226. The phone number is 716-836-4868. Unfortunately when I wrote to them last year, enclosing a donation, I received no answer, but my check was never cashed. LaVerne ltboehmke@aol.com
