Doris, Thanks for letting me know that the page I found was not quite what I wanted. I ran across a reference to it somewhere else so wanted to check it out. I figured that if it was a guide to either Lutheran churches in Sweden, or the parishes that they belong to, or something along those lines, that I could add it to the set of links I have on the mailing list homepage: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~mdtaffet/lutheran-roots_list.htm#Sources If you do know of such a page, I would like to have the URL so that I can add a link to it. -- Thanks, Mary Taffet List Admin for LUTHERAN-ROOTS mdtaffet@syr.edu Dooris63@aol.com wrote: > > In a message dated 11/1/2000 6:51:15 PM Eastern Standard Time, > mdtaffet@mailbox.syr.edu writes: > > << I found what appears to be a guide page to Lutheran churches in Sweden, > but I can't read it since it is all in Swedish, so I don't know for > sure. > > If anybody on the list can read Swedish, can you please take a look at: > >> > > Hi Mary, > > No, this isn't a guide page to Lutheran Churches in Sweden. It is the website of a Society of certain members of the Lutheran faith who are valiantly seeking to retain and promote the basic truths of their faith, especially their belief that the Bible is the true word of God. They are opposed to some of the changes that have taken place in Swedish social life today. Is that what you really want, though, or are you looking for a list of the parishes where ancestors might have lived? Doris
Hello, I found what appears to be a guide page to Lutheran churches in Sweden, but I can't read it since it is all in Swedish, so I don't know for sure. If anybody on the list can read Swedish, can you please take a look at: http://www.crossnet.se/kfflt/ ...and tell me basically what is on that page? Like, is there a link to a church directory, etc.? -- Thanks, Mary Taffet List Administrator for LUTHERAN-ROOTS mdtaffet@syr.edu
Dear Lutheran Researchers: I hope there are some of you out there that can help me out. My ancestor, Daniel Gingrich/Kingry married Rosina _______ c. 1759 in Lancaster County, PA. I have researched every avenue I can find from the Internet, the LCHS, libraries, LDS, etc. I know that some of Daniel's siblings and cousins were married in the Lutheran church, yet so far, I have been able to find nothing at all on him. He and Rosina, and their 5-yr old son, Solomon moved to Shen. Co., VA in 1766. One last thing (I'm on my knees pleading)... When Daniel and Rosina Gingrich settled in VA, their name was anglicized to KINGREE, which all of their descendants use to this day. In essence, with Rosina being the Matriarch of our family, I would hate to leave her without a maiden name! (Right now, I have her name as ROSINA MY WIFE KINGREE. I don't know if my descendants will go for that if they read it in our geneology generations from now.) Can anyone help out here?? Thanks so much. Pamela Kingree Moats

Posted on: Lutheran Roots Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Special/LutheranRootsObits/19 Surname: Schilling ------------------------- I am looking for information about my Great Grandfather, Friedrich Schilling who immigrated from Prussia in 1852. He sailed from Bremen aboard the ship BREMERHAVEN, arriving in New Orleans on the 27th of October, 1852. He was born March 11, 1828 and came to join a group of Saxon Lutherans in Perry County, Missouri, who preceded him by immigrating in 1839 under the leadership of pastor Stephans. The ships manifest does not list a village or town that he came from. I would like to know where he came from and if there are any surviving family that I might contact.
