It tells us that Nick lived and loved in London, then switched sides of the Atlantic to settle in NYC where he was still in the 1940 census. He appears to have a son called Nicholas too. Seems this branch had money ?? Son Born To G. F. Ludington Family Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Ludington of New York are parents of a son born Tuesday, it was learned here today. Mrs. Ludington was formerly Miss Marion Hagadorn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Hagadorn, North First Street, this City. Before returning to New York in 1980 to join Dudley-Anerson-Yutzy Public Relations as Director of Cultural Affairs, Ludington worked in Europe f or 18 years. From Nicholas L Ludington..........Have you ever communicated with Andrew Luddington at Wallington Hall or Richard Luddington (I think with JP Morg an Chase Bank, London) who is either a cousin or brother of Andrew? The Wallington Luddingtons grandfather was Lord Lieutenant of Norfolkshire and in the 1950s lived, I think, in King's Lynn. At anyrate in 1964 he ha d left Wallington Hall to a son who I called on when I visited the area. Th e Wallington Hall branch were the best-heeled Luddingtons according to a cousin, John, who lived in Putney. The only other Luddington I met is Sir Donald who must be in his late 70s and is listed in the British Who's Who and Debrett's. Donald went to St Andrews and spent his career in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. He was awarded his knighthood for service in Hong Kong or when he was made Governor of the Solomon Islands. A friend at the UN remembered calling on him in Honaria, the capital and asked him if he was related to me! Sir Donald said as far as h e knew he wasn't related to any other Luddingtons and wasn't the rich Luddingtons referring, I presume to the ones in Norfolk. I would think th e Norfolk family might trace back to Robert Luddington buried in Worcester Cathedral. Richard Luddington and his brother, or brothers went to Stowe and I remember visiting Stowe and being told Luddingtons were an "old Stowe family." I was also told, back in the days of National Service in t he UK that Luddingtons "always were Grenadiers." That is more than an apocryphal story because, in the '60s I was regularly asked by former Guardsmen whether I hadn't served in the Grenadier Guards. That would have been far more glamourous than being a simply Navy officer. Mrs. Louise Howard Henderson and Nicholas Leland Ludington were married this afternoon in St. James Episcopal Church by Canon William J. Chase. Mrs. Ludington is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bentz Buell Howard of Plainfield, N. J., Her husband is the son of Mrs. G. Franklin Ludingt on of New York and Point O'Woods Fire Island, L. I., and the late Mr. Ludington. The couple were attended by Miss Nancy Hall Howard, sister of the bride, and Douglas Reid Brash, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. The bride, a graduate of the Hartridge School in Plainfield and Vassar College, was presented at the Southside Virginia Debutante Cotillion in Danville. She is a member of the New York Junior League. Her previous marriage ended in divorce. Mr. Ludington was graduated from the Salisbury School in Connecticut and Brown University. He is a member of the Rockaway Hunting Club in Cedarhurst, L. I., and the Savile and American Clubs in London. His first marriage was annulled. The bridegroom is with Benton & Bowles, Ltd., advertising agency, in London.
