Derrick Lud was a son of Col Henry. He was said to be retarded as was one of his sisters. As we know Henry married his first cousin Abigail Lud when she was only 16 or so. They did have a large family and history tells us that often leads to some abnormal children. I too have no info on just how Joseph Lud fits into the family history. He shows in many Dutchess/Putnam records at the same time as Comfort but does not appear to be related.
