Fred.that J F Lud that d in Chicago in 1891 was John Frederick Ludington, a son of John Bliss Lud of Fair Haven CT. J F was b abt 1857 a was m to an Eleanor Lawson. The father had a very successsful oyster business and the son may have been in Chicago on a business venture? No children survived. Not much info on Hiram, b abt 1860, but a fellow by that exact name appears in the IL State Pen in 1880 as a prisoner at age 19, so it mite well be him. In the 1870 census I believe the James mentioned there is not a bro to Harvey 2, but a nephew. Harvey 2 had a bro Stephen T, (1822-1845) who died young leaving a wife ( Liza Miller) and 2 sons James A and Stephen. James shows living with Harvey 1 in 1870 as an apprentice. James later shows in Ft Wayne area and had family there. I show him m 4 different times but having family from the second wife only. He had two sons and 3 daughters. Kissie, Haddie, Cora, James A 2, and George A. Both boys ended up in Cal and are buried there.
