    3. Yes! Most of the wills have been microfilmed. Look in the county and then under Probate -- they are the Surrogate films. You can also check and index here: http://www.sampubco.com/wills/ny/newyork.htm If you can't look yourself at a FHC, let me know... possibly, I could get my daughter to look as she is up in Utah. 3. About wills. I have never been to FHC to look up probate records. I have collected last summer many wills from Putnam County. When you go the surrogate there they order a file and you can look at the file. (all original documents) Then you tell them what you want copied. I always copied the entire file. When you look up wills at LDS do you "get the whole file"? A will comes with the actual declaration page and then the Proving of the will. After the person dies the administrator has to take the will to the Surrogate Court and inform the next of kin. That usually tells you where the next of kin reside. In some cases wills are contested and testimony is taken. I have two such wills. Incredible information can be found there. People are sworn in and tell their relationship to the deceased. You can then get the names of their parents. I am wondering if FHC copies all that kind of stuff or just the declaration page. Hope this was helpful Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen Bush" <karenbush@cableone.net> To: <LUDDINGTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 11:16 PM Subject: RE: [LUDDINGTON] WILLS > Yes!
