When I was NY last summer I pulled partial deeds trying to place my Joseph. They did not but here is what I have. Deed help place people in a certain time frame. For example I now know that A Joseph that was not mine was in Illinois by 1856 Partial deed 209 This indenture made the twenty first day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand and Fifty six between (H)anison Ludington and Frances his wife of the City of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin ...and Frederick H. Ludington of the town of Kent Putnam County ... Partial no number This Indenture made the twenty first day of February in the year of our Lord on Thousand eight hundred and fifty seven between Cornelia Ludington of the town of Kent County of Putnam and State of NY ...and Frederick Ludington of the Town, County and State aforesaid..... Partial 217 This Indenture made the fourth day of June in the your one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Seven Between George Ludington and Emeline C Ludington Kent, Putnam and Frederick H. Ludington...of the same... Whole 207 This Indenture made the 24th day of June ...One thousand eight hundred fifty six Between Joseph Ludington of the City of Bloomington State of Illinois....and Frederick Ludington of the town of Kent, Putnam... These go on to mention the land and boundaries.. the only things of significance is one of the borders is lands owned by Frederick and Lewis Ludington...and excluding the Store house occupied by George Ludington...and it also mentions lands formerly owned by Frederick Ludington deceased (Two different Fredericks)..... 219 This is a Deed from Joseph of Il and George deeding him the land mentioned above...
