I cannot locate her dad coming to America at any time. Ron Ron, I would guess that she came with her step-father and mother who immigrated in 1855, according to the 1900 census. Her step-father is Dr. Henry P. Buckland and on the 1860 census, she is listed as Eliza Buckland, age 7, born in England. What is especially interesting about the 1860 census is that it shows Henry P. Buckland, age 32, with wife, Susan and 3 children, all born in England. If Eliza is a Ludington, then it would seem likely that her older brothers are as well. George is 8 and William is 10. 1900 census states that Susan (Cornwall) (Ludington) Buckland had three children and only 1 is living. I did a quick search on the English records for William F. and Susan Cornwall and their children but did not find anything. Elaine
Hi all With regards to Eliza, this is properly not her but seems very close to call......from the 1851 census of Littleport, Cambridgeshire Francis Luddington 67 head farmer,20ac 1 man Susan Luddington 24 wife William Luddington son 5 George Luddington son 4 Eliza Luddington dau 2 Francis was married before to a Margaret Brown, they had.... Susan b 1807 Edward b 1808 Elizabeth b1809 Mary b 1810 John b 1812 d 1812 John b 1813 Ann b 1814 George b 1818 Rebecca b 1819 Jane b 1820 Eliza b 1823 d 1827 Emily b 1827 Margaret died January 1827, (of exestuation I should think), the births above are taken from baptisms. Francis remarried in 1846 29 May to Susan Cornwell As well as the children above they had...... Charles b1849 d 1849 Charles b 1851 d 1851 Francis b 1852 d 1883 Now I had nothing on any of the children from the marriage with Susan, just a maybe marriage for George in London, no Death for Susan ether? when I read the emails I had a look at the 1851 census and found these, I thought maybe Susan remarried? so checked the marriage registers and found one for a Susan Francias Luddington in 1853, in St Pancras London. the register does not give a name for the spouse in the entry for Susan, only a reg number 1b 29 but I checked the same date for a marriage for the name Buckland and found one for a William Henry Buckland, in St Pancras, with the same Reg number???? If you think that this might be her I will send of for a copy of the certificate to get more details, were she comes from, if she is a widow and age ect. Another funny thing if this is her, is that she is part of David's line, who has just had the DNA test.
