    2. Reminds me of a charming fantasy novel I read in my youth, "Lud - in - the Mist" by Hope Mirrlees, originally published in 1926. A respectable burgher of a somewhat staid village set in a rustic sort of medieval world, sets out for Fairyland on the western border and changes ensue. I believe it has been republished a few times since I read it in the 60's!
