Ay one time Harrison Ludington and cousin, James Ludington,( of Ludington MI fame ) were lumber barons in WI, and MI. It is situated on the Kansas City Railroad about three miles north of DeRidder. It was named for a Mr. Ludington of the Ludington, Wells, and Van Schoiek Lumber Co. It has never been changed to any other name.
