    3. "Elizabeth Ludington "Betty" Lawson died March 18, 1997, in Seattle after a brief illness. She was born April 21, 1912, to Rolland and Florence Ludington at Wenatchee. She graduated from the University of Washington where she was affiliated with Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She lived at Sheridan Beach for the past 18 years after moving from Liberty Lake. She was active in community affairs, serving as the secretary for the Sheridan Community and Beach Club, and was an avid blue ribbon swimmer. She was a member of the Children's Orthopedic Guild and was the first president of the North Seattle Mended Hearts chapter. She was a member of the University Unitarian Church, Seattle. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Christensen, Spokane; a son, Ned Lawson of Lake Forest Park; and two grandchildren, Peter and Emily Lawson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl G. Lawson. A memorial service will be held at noon Friday at the University Unitarian Church, 6556 35th N.E., Seattle. Services are under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home, Seattle." Other info: Elizabeth was the daughter of Roland/Rowland Samuel Ludington, born May 1869 in Illinois (probably Marshall County) and died Feb 20, 1927 in Wenatchee, Wash. Roland was the son of Samuel Ludington and Mary Kennedy. Samuel was born about 1830 in New York (according to 1870 census), died before 1880 (1880 census lists Mary Ludington as a widow).
