Georgia O'Connor Ludington, 83, a volunteer at local schools, died May 14 at Montgomery General Hospital of complications from a series of strokes. She lived at Leisure World in Silver Spring. Mrs. Ludington was born in Turney, Mo., and attended business school in Kansas City. She moved to Washington in 1943, when she joined the women's volunteer naval corps, or WAVES. During World War II, she worked in naval communications, and her duties included cryptology and decoding messages. She left the service in 1945. She lived in Silver Spring for many years and volunteered at the libraries of Georgetown Day School and Sandy Spring Friends School. She was also a member of her neighborhood garden club. Her husband of 29 years, William H. Ludington Jr., died in 1974. Survivors include three children, William H. Ludington III of Laytonsville, Cynthia L. Adams and Alice E. Ludington, both of Silver Spring; two brothers; one sister; and four grandchildren.
