Schenk, 86, passed away April 13, 2011 at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center in Salina, Kansas. She was born November 5, 1924 at Ness County, Kansas, the daughter of Guy and Martha (Corrigan) Ludington. Mildred married Clifton Helt in 1943 in Great Bend, Kansas. He died in July of 1976. She married Bill Daniel May 9, 1970 at Hoisington. He died March 1, 1979. Mildred married Robert Schenk December 10, 1988. He died on March 8, 2006. Mildred was a resident of Hoisington since 1951, coming from Great Bend. She worked for Hoisington Hospital, retiring as a Nurse's Aide after 22 years. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Hoisington. She is survived by three daughters, Martha Haberman and husband Alvin of Great Bend, Jacque Byers and husband Jim of Salina, and Susie Strosnider and husband Mike of Salina; one sister, Rose Cook of Thornton, Colorado; eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Helt; infant brothers, Richard and Robert Ludington; and one sister, Katherine Foster. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, April 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Dwight Birket officiating. Visitation was held Friday with an Altar Society rosary that evening, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Interment was at St. John Church Cemetery, Hoisington. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Kans for Kids, or Hospice of Salina, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
