Schaefer, 80, of Connersville passed away Saturday morning, April 19, 2008 at her residence, where she had resided for twenty years. She was born January 7, 1928 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Claude and Lucille Dunn Ludington. Marybeth came to Connersville when she was only 13 years of age, and attended Connersville Schools, graduating from Connersville High School, Class of 1945. She worked at several odd jobs around town until she became employed for the former McQuay-Norris Foundry Company, where she worked for ten years, and later became employed for GTE Phone Company in Connersville. She is best known for her work in the medical profession as a compassionate and skilled caregiver, where she worked until she retired at the age of 70 in 1998. Her biggest hobby was making cookies, which she enjoyed giving to friends and family as gifts and traveling to other countries. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. Marybeth was the wife of 53 years to Harold E. Schaefer. They were married October 22,1949. Mr. Schaefer died November 6, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann Schaefer of New Albany, Indiana; a son, Bradford A. Schaefer of Connersville; a sister, Pearl M. Collins and husband, Earl of Indianapolis; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Mary and Otis Vance of Connersville. In addition to her parents and husband, Harold E. Schaefer, she was preceded in death by a sister: Lavara Marie Hardy Peters; two brothers: Richard George Ludington, who died in infancy, and Warren Joseph Lundington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday, April 23, 2008, with Reverend Robert Land officiating, at the First United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the church from 11 AM until the time of services. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. At the request of the family and Marybeth's final wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.                           This list is adoptable.
