I believe this has to be the Lemuel Lud that was b in 1747 in CT and m Hopestill Truscott. He later moved up to VT and had a family there one of whom was another Lemuel ( served in War 1812 and d in 1823 ) and who was awarded a land grant which the father ended up with after Lem Jr d. The father later moved to OH where he shows in records on many occasions. This shows a Lemuel Lud that came from New Haven CT, served in the Rev War but I cannot make out his age or service term and his reward for same. Can anyone ? I believe this is the Lemuel b in 1747 to James and Eeanor, who in turn had a son Lemuel, who served in the 1812 War and was granted land but d in 1823 and the land went to his father. Hi Ron Another win. Hope you are well - maybe a check on early records for Quddington may find some more. In my mind it is a problem using "transcribers" in recent years. Any names that contain "ss" look like "sl" in old records. There was a Lemuel who died in Oct 1813, (war of 1812) his sole heir was his father, Lemuel. The VT Lemuel had his pension moved to Ohio. This could be the unknown Lud branch from Ohio. I can't see the actual files. That last one seems to have listings on the same page also claiming he's from Massachusetts and another from NY. The other Lemuel from VT is on a different page. There is also this. Once again the only thing I can see is like an old card catalog that only shows him name, and the file number. The interesting part is that it says Ludington, also Luddington, Lemuel. My God........Rachel may have found my lost g/g/g/grandfather Lemuel Luddington. He next appears in the 1790 census in Balston Spa, Albany co NY. The 1778 date fits perfectly. What other info can u find on him ? What part of CT ? From what family ? I have never spotted him anywhere else in any records. He later married a Patience Guernsey but I cannot find her or that family and the marriage. Yes. The 1700's stuff here, it's the capital S and L. I never thought to search for Qu though. Thanks Gerry! I will keep that in mind.
