Milton just returned for Iraq where he was a contractor. He has expressd an interest in joining us and as soon as I have his vitals etc, I shall get him entered. He has a proven line all the way back to England thru Wm of 1607. Wiz

    3. Karen Bush will you please add Alberta Luddington to our list? mynoah@netscape.com I have contacted Alberta directly and placed her in my "Afro-American" Luddington study in the proper place. I knew of her father's existance but not of her or her brothers. I have asked her to supply some vitals to make the study more accurate and up to date. At this time I have not determined the origin of the Lud-Ludd name in use by Afro-Americans but I suspect it came about in Matagorda TX from the arrival of Robert Ludington, son of Tertullus, and grandson of Col Henry. Robert moved to TX about 1837 and lived in that area until his death in the late 1850's. He shows with 2 slaves in the 1850 TX census and that MAY be where the name came from. Pure conjecture! After Robert died his wife sold of his cattle and land holdings and took her 3 boys to Chicago. One of the sons was a Union prison guard in IL during the Civil War and was well respected by the Confederate prisoners for his kind treatemnt towards them. A true Texas gentleman! I'm sure JimBob can relate to that. Welcome aboard Alberta!! 3. Here is some info on the DNA tests we have been doing. Most of us have only done the 12 marker tests while a few have done the 12, then the 25, and even the 35 tests. They now offer a 59 marker tests to bring the results even closer. However I am one who has done 35 markers and am quite sure I am a Ludington descended from the "Wm of 1607" branch and am not prepared to spend any more to gain just a little more assurance. If any others want to try let me know and I will forward your request. Note the cost. JJB>> Dear JJB, Maybe you recently talked with Link Ludington in Madison Indiana? Link and Kris are brothers! So Link and Kris and I are second cousins. Our grandfathers, Lawrence and William Ludington of Muncie, Indiana, were brothers. Our fathers, Harley and Richard Ludington were first cousins.

    2. Thanks, JJB Thanks for Kris's email address. I still had his msn address and had not taken time to call him. He's a nice guy, and I hope he is doing okay now. He had a bad time for a while in that silicon valley mess out in California. Our Tim had a bad month, probably the closest to a "call" that he's had in a long time. The details are too gruesome to tell on email, but I think now he will be okay. Nancy

JJB Ron Ludington <ronlud@swfla.rr.com> wrote: A breakthru?? For many years we have been looking for the father of Jehiel/Gehiel (and various other similar spellings) Ludington who appears in early OH and MI land and other records. We believe he is the son of Lemuel Ludington/Hospstill Truscott who had family in VT in the 1790's. One of the sons was called "Zehiel" b 1798. That Lud famiy moved to OH in the 1820's and we feel that Zehiel went off to other parts of OH to seek his fortune and find a wife as a Gehial Ludington first shows in 1824 in Warren Co OH when he marries Fanny Vail. He later shows in Butler co OH with family and even later in MI with more family and some land he had abtained. He would fit right in as Zehiel/Jehial/Gehial or any other combination as a name like that would be hard to confuse with anything else . He had 3 children, Samuel, William and Mary, and all of which we have birth places and dates. Comments?? Wiz Some added info: He may well be the son of Lemuel Ludington/Hopestill Truscott who lived in VT in 1790 and had a son called Zehial b 1798? Jehiel and Zehiel would have been said the same way. Both easily confused with Gehiel (soft G sound) The name of both Geheil and Zehiel should probably be JEHIEL Gender: Masculine, Usage: Biblical Pronounced: jee-HIE-e Means "God lives" in Hebrew.
