    2. Don't know of any Luidingtons but I just read a book "The Hornets Nest" by Jimmy Carter (the ex-pres). He mentioned that situation but his book was principally about what was happening in South Carolina and Georgia. Mildred

    2. If you have time, try the Foundry Museum in Cold Spring, NY; it is right across the river from West Point and was originally the foundry for the USA. The door to the springhouse from the old Ludington House (it was torn down when they built Route 52) is mounted near the entrance of the museum. I took a picture of it. Mildred

    2. John Lister
    3. Hello everyone, I have added some pictures to the Family Site. The pictures are of Harrison Ludington's family burial plot at Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI. The Ludington family married to the Patton, Van Schaick, and White families. There was also a Halls of History Display of many famous Milwaukee/Wisconsin figures including Harrison Ludington. Some of the other famous include Gen. Billie Mitchell, Gen Arthur MacArthur (Douglas MacArthur's Dad), Alfred Lunt & Lynn Fontane (Actors). The gal at the Cemetery office was very helpful and ran off some of the burial dates. I will try to scan them later. There is also a diagram of the plot. She said she would also collect other information and mail it to me later. A book she gave me of the walking tour shows the following about Harrison: He was buried in Section 32 Land Tract 6 After starting in a general merchandising business, he went into the lumber business. Over a span of 40 years, Ludington and his partners became one of the leading lumber producers in the region. He served as mayor of Milwaukee followed by one term as governor. The information with his picture may not be large enough to read. If so, I will write that out later. I also want to go back and see what graves I may have missed. There were other names mixed among the group. That is it for now. John

    3. Levi Luddington , Rachels's g/g/g/g/grandfather,and his son Alvah Luddington, may have fought the American Invaders at the battle of Lundy's Lane or at Queeston Heights (now both part of Ontario) in the War of 1812 as they had been in Upper Canada for 12 years by then and were in a local militia unit not far from those places; however no military records are available to us even today.
