Sarah Lucas Crawford Sarah Lucas was born in Green County, Pennsylvania December 29, 1844, died December 9, 1914, age sixty-nine years, eleven months and 20 days. In the year of 1864 she with her parents came west and settled in White Oak Township, Warren county, Iowa, where she has since made her home. On October 8th, 1868, she was united in marriage to John W. Crawford, who preceded her to the better world on December 29th, 1909. To this union were born five children, all excepting two survive her. At the age of twelve years, ghe(sic) accepted Christ as her savior and has lived a true christian life. Some twelve years ago she was stricken with paralysis which left her an invalid. She bore her afflictions without a murmur, yet often expressed a desire to soon meet Jesus and loved ones gone before. She was a mother who brought her children up in the faith of God and in former years was a great worker in her church, her bible was her daily companion. She leaves to mourn her death two sons, Chas. S., of Indianola, Iowa, John G., of Des Moines, Iowa, and one daughter Mrs. Frank Nutt, Indianola, Iowa, three grand children besides four brothers, Thomas and Chas. Lucas, of Central City, Nebraska, Will Lucas, Oakland, Cal., and Benj. F. Lucas, of Indianola, Iowa, and a host of friends. A precious on from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled, The boon his love had given. And thou the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven. Funeral service were held at her old home Thursday morning, December 11th, at 10:00 o'clock conducted by Rev.
