    3. Part 10 - Charles Wayne is the 7th child of Thomas Martin and Lettie (Kerr) Lucas. Central City Republican, Central City, Nebraska, April 7, 1949 The Life of Charles Wayne Lucas ----------------------------------------------------- Charles Wayne Lucas was born at Rice's Landing, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Lettie Kerr Lucas, March 19, 1874. He passed away at his home in Central City, Nebraska on March 28, 1949, following a brief illness. When he was two years old his mother died and he was cared for by his sister, Millie, who was fifteen years old. After her marriage he came to Nebraska with his father's family in 1855 living on a farm in Meade School District where he attended school. He later attended the North Ward school in Central City. He was employed for a number of years with the Haley Ranch near Laramie, Wyoming, where he was in charge of the shipments which were made to various cities in the United States. Later he was employed with the Hord Company for approximately twentyfive years. He made his home in Central City for the past - - - years. Those of his immediate family who survive are two sisters, Mrs. Millie Bayard of Rice's Landing, Pennsylvania and Mrs. C. A. Gregg of Central City, Nebraska, together with a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 31, 1949 at Solt's Chapel with Rev. O. W. Carrell officiating. The college male quartette sang two songs, "Home of the Soul" and "Just As I Am", accompanied by Merlyn Solt on the piano. Pallbearers were Charles Huff, Frank McConnell, Robt. F. Johnston, Chas.
