    3. On a recent holiday my father and mother (maiden name Lucas) passed through a village called La Haye-Pesnel in Manche Normandy. A church in the village was called Le Tanu and nearby was a stone cross, with Latin inscription, called Le Croix Lucas (the Lucas cross). Enquiries were made of some local people and they found out that the cross commemorated a Lucas family who had lived there up to the 17th century. Does anyone know any history of the Lucas family in France? Were they originally French (we believed them to be Italian). Any information on this subject, including likely research points, would be gratefully recieved. Joe de la Poer Power
