Since I have not posted a query for some time I now will repeat some of what I asked about at an earlier date: William Estes Lucas, b. Sept. 12, 1851, Middleburg (Casey Co.) Ky., d. Oct. 12, 1928, Middleburg, KY., m. March 9, 1876, Casey Co., Ky., Lydia Mina Fletcher. Children, William Alvah Lucas, Joseph S. Lucas and Mary Lucas. William married second - Martha Royalty, March 1896. Child - Herman Francis Lucas. Williams father - Francis Jones Lucas, b. April 4, 1828, Middleburg (Casey Co.,) Ky., d. December 25, 1876, Casey Co., Ky., m. January 10, 1847, Lincoln Co., Ky., Martha Estes. Children , Mary Frances Lucas, William Estes Lucas and Franklin Berry Lucas. Father of Francis Jones Lucas - Hezekiah Lucas, b. abt. 1797 in Virginia, d. January 1870, Middleburg (Casey Co.) Ky., m. December 23, 1822 (Casey Co.), Judith Sims. Children, Sarah "Sally" Lucas, Ann Lucas, Daniel M. Lucas, Francis Jones Lucas, John Shelton Lucas, Coleman Taylor Lucas, Edmond P. Lucas, Mary Jane Lucas, Elizabet "Betsy" Lucas, and Hezekiah Lucas, Jr. Father of Francis Jones Lucas - John Lucas, b. about 1765, Virginia, d. 1837, Casey Co., Ky., m. about 1792, Sarah Jones. Children, James Lucas, Hezekiah Lucas, Mary "Polly" Lucas, Nancy Lucas, Willis Lucas, Sr., William Lucas, John Lucas, Jr., Jesse Lucas, Johnson Lucas, Mary Frances Lucas, and Naoma Lucas. Sarah Jones is not a proven wife of John but is considered to be the most likely. Apparently Sarah's father was a neighbor of the John Lucas and his brother William, in Surry Co., N.C., (1790 census). John Jones (Sarah's father) was born about 1740, apparently in Virginia, and of Welsh ancestry He was the father of at least two children, and probably more. The two known children were a son Michael, b. 1762, d. 1842, m. Sarah Johnson. The other child a daughter, Sarah, b. abt. 1765, d. aft. 1820, she being the best candidate to have been the wife of John Lucas. John Lucas had a brother, William Lucas, b. abt. 1765, according to 1810 census, Lincoln Co., Ky. Not much is known of William, his wife predeceased him and therefore is not mentioned in his will. His wife was probably named "Lucinda." His will was written June 14, 1833 and probated September 23, 1833, in Lincoln Co., Ky. Although John and William were probably about the same age it is thought that John was the younger. I would be interested in hearing from those having knowledge of this line. Richard M.
