Could you tell me where. The IGI says that our Elisha Hurd was m. to Mary Lucas. This is the records that I have found in NJ and KY. [IGI] ELISHA HURD m. Mary Lucas [land records in 1805 Madison Co. KY, 1810 Harrison Co. KY, 1815 Elisha Hurd of Bath Co, KY] Children: 1)Nathan Hurd b. abt 1769 of Nicholas, KY 2)Martha Hurd b. abt 1770 of Harrison, KY, m. John Essley ca 1792 3)Elisha Hurd b. abt 1772 of Harrison KY 4)female Hurd b. abt 1773 of Harrison KY 5)Mary or Polly Hurd b. 5 Nov 1775 of Bourbon Co, KY, m. John Groves 20 Sep 1796 Madison Co, KY? 6)Margaret Hurd b. abt 1781 of Harrison KY. Revolutionary Census of New Jersey (Stryker -Rodda) Section I: 1773 -1774 Elisha Herd Evesham Burlington Co., NJ John Easly Evesham Burlington Co., NJ If the marriage in 1796 to John Groves took place in Madison Co, KY then Elisha Hurd must have been in Madison Co. by 1796. Do you see any connections to your Lucas in locations? Our John Essley line went to Fayette, Union and Delaware Cos. Indiana. Gwen Boyer Bjorkman gwenbj@seanet.com > My oldest LUCAS ancestor that I've been able to find is Benjamin LUCAS, my >3dggf. Benjamin was born 1 May 1794 somewhere in NJ. I have been unable to >find his birth place or parents. I do know he migrated from NJ>KY>Cincinnati, >OH and finally arriving in Clinton Co., IN about 1830/31. Along the way, he >met and married my 3dggm Elizabeth COON who was born 8 Jan 1797 at Red Rock, >Luzerne Co., PA. >> Gwen, my 3dggf Benjamin's obituary stated: . . . "Uncle Benny Lucas, as he was known, was a native of the State of New Jersey; he removed thence to Kentucky, from there to Cincinnati, and finally to this State [Indiana] and county [Clinton] where he lived for 44 years. I have not yet been able to find where in New Jersey he was born nor who his parents were. I've tried looking for the "needle in the haystack" by going through Kentucky county records in the early 1800s to determine where in that state he and his family might have lived. I have him in the 1820 Census Records in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since he was born 1 May 1794 in New Jersey his age could have been anywhere from 1 to 26 years old up to the 1820 Census. At one, he was in Kentucky. Sorry I can't provide more information. You are welcome to a copy of my LUCAS GEDCOM if you think it might be of help. Jim Lucas, Arlington, VA
