    2. 4. Rob. "Col. Bob" died unmarried and left Cold Spring (on which Edw. settled about 1732) to Danl. Bedinger Lucas, a brilliant lawyer & writer, autor of poem "In the Land where We were Dreaming." 5. Betty, b. Apr. 7, 1798 d. Geb. 24, 1818, unmarried. 6. William b. Nov. 7, 1800 mar. Virginia Bedinger, whose sister, Henrietta Bedinger Lee, mar. Edmund Jennings Lee, first cousin of Robt. E. Lee & grandson of Rich. Henry Lee. Wm. was a member of Congress, Lawyer, Planter, & mem. of Va. Convention, etc. His children: Wm. died in Fla. 1863, unmarried. Sally Eleanor, mar. Rev. Ev. Bedinger, her 2nd cousin, of Ky. left 7 children & num. desc. Danl. Bedinger mar. Evelina Tucker Brooke, in 1869, & had 1 child, Virginia Lucas. D. Bedinger was a lawyer, judge, Sup. Court, writer & poet. Note: It was from Danl. Bedinger Lucas's dau. Virginia that I obtained the important facts in this manuscript. Descendants of Wm. Lucas, youngest son of Mary Darke Lucas & Edw. II: Wm. Lucas married in Shepherdstown, Va. Susannah Barnes, about 1775, exact date unknown. Children (so far as known): 1. William (Gen. Ohio Militia) 2. Joseph (In first O. legis 18 yrs & Asst. Judge of Common ...) 3. Rebecca mar. Sam'l Reed. 4. John b. 1786, mar. cous. Mary Porter. 5. Robt. b. April 1, 1781, mar. 1. Elizabeth Brown, 2. Friendly Sumner. 6. Lavisa b. Aug. 19, 1783, mar. Chas. Steenbergen. Seven of Lavisa's grandsons, (3 of them bros.) served in the Union Army during the Civil War, while scores of cousins in Va. were Confererates. At least two of her brothers, John & Edw. were in the War of 1812, Edw. also sending sons to the Civil War in the Union Army. To, and including, the sixth generation, of Robt. Lucas the Gov. & Lavisa his sister, numerous descendants are living in Iowa today, over a score in the male line above, belonging to the Sons of the American Revolution. All the above facts can be proven if requested, & as far as ascertained are not collected in any Lucas Genealogy. Very truly, (Mrs. C.F.) Chew, Asa's parents were Martin (Rev. ..... & Phoebe (Gibson) Gibbs of Burlington Co., N.J. Asa d. nr. Camden, N.J.
