While reading an 1942 obit, I turned the newspaper clippin over and found: "Perhaps Tom Will Get His Wish if War Lasts Long Enough" Topeka, Kan.-(AP)-"I," concludes young Tom Lucas, "want to do something exciting." All he's done to date: Joined the royal Canadian air force in 1940, advancing to flight sergeant; Become mechanical instructor in Scotland for the Austrailian air forc; Spent two weeks with the New Zealand air force; Served with the British royal air force; Taught Rhodesian cadets for a while, then spent two weeks at a British navel base. After the United States entered the war, he came home to be inducted, and was assigned to an army air force school in Florida. Now he's home with a medical discharge. This may have been a Souix City, Iowa paper. I should have found this earlier for Veteran's Day. Thought someone might appreciate a story of a 20th Century LUCAS. Happi@webtv
