    1. [LUCAS-L] SNODGRASS, Sarah WV--- NEED HELP PLEASE!!
    2. Here goes, my great grandfather was Parker L. J. Lucas (anyone know what the L. J. stands for?) (1846-1891) s/o Madison Haines Lucas and Malinda Rock. Parker md. Sarah Isabelle SNODGRASS (d. before 1900 in Hamlin, Lincoln Co., WV). They had the following children: James M., Alonzo P., Malinda J., Henry R., Ollie, Silas Oxley, Millie Maye, Thomas M., and Elisha W. Lucas. I'm trying to find out more about Sarah Snodgrass. I'd like to thank those of you who have sent information already but I'm now more confused. Hope someone can help me to clear this up. First there is a listing for Sarah Isabelle Snodgrass d/o a pioneer miller named William James Snodgrass and Mildred Rau. It's reported Sarah md Parker on Jan. 1, 1873 in Hamlin. This information is from "Lincoln Co., WV and It's People" pg 118. Another possibility is a James B. Snodgrass (1809-1866) who md 2nd to Mildred Rees(c)e on Dec. 16, 1845. Two of their children listed are Isabella b. abt. 1846 says she md. Parker Lucas; and also listed is a Sarah J. b. abt. 1853. Sarah and Isabelle are there but as far back as my dad remembers, his great grandmothers name was Sarah Isabelle. Clearly in James daughters case they are reported as two seperate people. And last, According to "Lincoln Co., WV and It's People", Parker is buried in the Lucas Cemetery on Big Creek and Sarah is reported to be buried next to him following her death in January 1899. In the Lincoln Co. archives in the Lucas Cemetery it gives a listing for Parker Lucas and the next listing is for Sarah S. Lucas d. 1899 but says she is the daughter of Madison and Malinda Rock Lucas. I'm wondering if the S. stands for Snodgrass and the meaning just got mixed up. Sarah Susan Lucas was b in 1849 and died in Monroe Co., WV. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I've looked but haven't been able to find a Snodgrass mailing list. Is there one available? Thanks for all your time and thanks in advance for any help. Lora
