Hi Kathy! Looks like we are both searching for the same Charles Lucas. I descend from his son John Lucas who m. Polly Wilson. According to our family tradition (which is all it is at this point since I've not been able to prove any generations previous to John), Charles was the grandson of "our" Lucas immigrant. Charles was supposedly the first Lucas in the SW VA area. His wife Annie was reported to have been a school teacher from the NY or NJ area. I am at a loss as to where Charles was born - possibly the New Kent Co., VA area - or, if his wife was from NY - then maybe Charles was born in that area as well. Again, family tradition has it that Charles's father was John who was supposedly born 10 June 1692 (I have no idea where this date comes from except that all the descendants of John Lucas seem to have this date written in concrete), but nobody seems to know where that date came from. No name for John's wife has been given. John (b. 1692) was the son of the immigrant James Lucas (b. 1665 in England) who was married to Elinor. I was visiting a friend down in TN a few weeks ago and visited the library there (Blount Co., TN). I found a small book on Cawoods (my first encounter with a publication on that family) but found no connection to Annie mentioned in the book. I have longed to find a cousin who was interested in pondering these earlier generations of Lucases. Most of my cousins don't seem interested in the Lucases prior to their Revolutionary ancestor ("our" John was a Captain during the Rev. War.). Do you have any proof that Charles was the immigrant? Since I've had such a hard time tracing the early Lucases, I would love to know what put you on the trail of Charles being the immigrant. Which child of Charles and Annie do you descend from? I have 11 children listed for Charles and Annie, with more descendants listed for 6 of those children (John, William, Parker, Thomas, Randolph (or Randal), and Edward. Hope to hear from you again, soon! Leigh Blount
