Hi cousins, it's me again. I hope somebody has the answer to my last e-mail asking about John R. LUCAS and Anna Birks and/or Elizabeth ? BUT does everybody realize he lived in Iowa at least for a little while? My g-g-grandfather was born there. His first 3 children were born Illinois; then, my gr in IA; then the other children in MO. So.....one possibility....if nobody knows the answer...is that I could snoop around in Iowa. Maybe Anna died there and he remarried Elizabeth there? Could that be a possibility? OK---maybe somebody knows and I won't have to go to all this trouble. karen negron
Hello cousins, I know I've been working with quite a few of you on this LUCAS line (Jean; Francois/Marie; Frans/Jannetje; etc). I need help and I know somebody out there must know. On down the line, Abraham LUCAS married Mary/Marcy KELSEY One of their children: James LUCAS married Hannah BOWMAN One of their children: John R. LUCAS, b. Jan 22, 1824 and married ?? some say Anna Birks. Does anybody know when and where? Also, did Anna die and John remarry? If so, do we know when and where she died and when and where he remarried? In 1860, he is on Jackson Co., MO census married to ELIZABETH (b. Indiana). Who is Elizabeth (she's not the same as Anna is she?)? And, who is the mother of his children on that census (Ann E; George E; Abraham H; Matild J; Cynthia A; Thomas; Sarah E)? Can someone point me in the right direction? I know many are researching this same line so I feel sure somebody knows. Any lead is greatly appreciated. Karen Negron

Lucy, Henry Robi(n)son Lucas was a son (or a grandson?) of Robinson and Mary (Prickett) Lucas of Brown Co. OH and Monongalea Co. WV (VA). Henry Robinson (ca 1794-?) was a brother of my ancestor, James Lucas, and was in Hanover Twp., Shelby Co. IN at the time of the 1830 Census. He married Mary Grogan 10 Dec 1811 in Adams Co. OH, daughter of Patrick Grogan. He may have married Susannah Hunt in Vermilion Co. IL in 1841. He served in Capt. Joseph Kratzer's Ohio company in the War of 1812. He was listed in the Vermilion Co. IL census in 1840. I have never found him in the 1850 census. Chuck Lucas Lucy Ann Moore wrote: > seeking information on Jeremiah Lucas b. I know this isn't a post about my ancestors but it came to me thru my Fulton- L@rootsweb.com list and I thought I would pass it along to the other side lol. Hope y'all get a kick out of it too. YOU KNOW YOU ARE A GENEALOGY ADDICT WHEN... 1. You brake for libraries. 2. You hyper ventilate at the sight of an old cemetery. 3. You would rather browse in a cemetery than a shopping mall. 4. You would rather read census schedules than a good book. 5. You are more interested in what happened in 1697 than 1997. 6. Moses, Dorcus, and Caleb are household names, but you cannot remember what to call the dog. 7. You can pinpoint Sewickely, McKeesport, Evans City, (PA) but can't locate your state capital on the map. 8. You think every home should have a copier and a microfilm reader. 9. You know every register of deeds in the state by name, but they lock the doors when they see you coming. 10. You store your clothes under the bed, because your closet is full of books and papers. 11. All your correspondence begins "Dear Cousin". 12. You have traced every one of your ancestral lines back to Adam and Eve, have it documented, and still don't want to quit.

Here's some birth dates on the children of James and Elinor Lucas. My source is from another Lucas researcher. James Lucas, Jr. - b. April 17, 1689 John Lucas - b. June 10, 1662 Ann Lucas - b. Aug. 2, 1697 Edward Lucas (twin) b. Jan. 26, 1699/00 Richard Lucas (twin) b. Jan. 26, 1699/00
Looking for information on James Lucas who may have married an Elinor. He may have been born abt. 1680 in Surry or somewhere close to Surry Co. He had the following children: Elizabeth, James Jr., John, Ann, Edward, and Richard Lucas all possibly born between the years 1686-1700. Anything on this family would be welcomed. Lora
Trying to find a birth and death date for Susanna Lucas. She was born in Giles Co. Va probably around 1800 to Parker Lucas. She was the mother of Madison H. Lucas (b. 1820). She married Charles Straley in 1835 in Giles Co. VA. Probably died in Giles or a neighboring town. Any help would be appreciated. Lora
Could your John be James Lucas, son of Abraham Lucas and Marcy Kelsey? James Lucas and his wife Hannah Bowman had the following children: George B., Thomas, Abraham, Mary, Phebe, Elizabeth, John and Sarah. James and wife were living in Liberty Township, Clinton, OH, in 1820 which might explain your Ohio reference. Cheryl Rothwell clrothwell@mindspring.com
Seaching (desperately) for James LUCAS, b. NY abt 1839. James is my g-grandfather and is my biggest research problem. Family tradition has it that he was an orphan, born NY. Census records and death records uphold this. I first find him in Branch Co., MI, living with a family by the name of VanBlarcum - his age 21 (1860 census). He married Mary DEAN (no marriage record). I have a tintype of a young lady labeled Sarah A. BROWN, sister of James Lucas, b. 31st Jul 1831, and her son James W. BROWN b. 1 Jul 1854. Does anyone out there have any clue on these folks? I will be glad to follow any leads! Belva McCullough
Horay! That's my line of LUCAS's as well! Happy to finally meet up with someone researching the same line. Let's compare notes. I've not actually done the research myself---was given to me by cousins---but this way, I can compare their notes for accuracy. I guess you have Jean LUCAS and Elizabeth ROLLAIRE of Otterberg, Germany as well? If others need this info, let me know. karen negron fort worth Cheryl Rothwell wrote: > My Lucas line includes Abraham Lucas [1761 NJ-1841 Sangamon now Logan > County, IL] + Marcy Kelsey [1764 NJ-1835 IL].
