Author: alien71121 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.loyalists/757.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Kim, your "Col. Thomas Brown" is the famous Col. Thomas "Burnfoot" Brown[e] [1750-1825]. I have been researching him for about a month now. There is a good amount of information on "Burnfoot out there. Google "The Road to Cherokee". This is a reference to Cherokee Sound, Abaco Island, Bahamas. I believe Thomas "Burnfoot" Brown[e] is related to my line of Browns [ brownsociety.org family [DNA] group #33. I have traced my line of Browns back to the marriage of British soldier James Brown & Catharine/Katharine Fisher/Fischer. They were married in 1749, Schoonhoven, Zuid Holland, Netherlands. Both were born in Schoonhoven, James in 1723, Catharine in 1727. James served under British Capt. Johnston[e]. I believe both were Carolina Rangers, in mainly SC. during the war. James's son Robert Fisher Brown Sr. was born Nov. 8, 1759, Breda, Netherlands. Robert died in Habersham Co., GA., 1840. Today my mother's mtDNA showed a new close cousin DNA match, her [the match's] last name is Cameron. I have more information, if you're interested? Email me at the address below & we'll exchange genealogy files and related information. Some of my Browns were loyalists during the war, some patriots, & I may have found one that switched in the middle of the war, a Robert Fisher [a. k. a. Robert Fisher Brown Sr.?]?
