    1. [LOYALISTS] Future of loyalist lists
    2. Steve O.
    3. Since there have been 0 Loyalist messages since the rootsweb rebirth, I don’t think there are enough users left. My assumption is they have moved to a Facebook group as I can’t find any alternative on Groups.io <http://groups.io/> or Google groups, and I have heard of no alternatives. For these reasons I will not be moving the UEL list. There have been less than 10 user messages since 2018. Personally I like the email resending format over the facebook group mess. I have run several FB groups. But they are good for pictures. Should you start a new forum, please notify the list and I will pass the info onto the UEL list members Steve O. > On Jan 18, 2020, at 8:19 AM, Jim Jackson <[email protected]> wrote: > > This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: > > Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will > be discontinued. 3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

My info suggests that he remained in Scotland into year 1785 , arrived Glengarry County 1786 ; that he never took up land or arms in the former American Colonies prior to Rev War ending in 1783 . This said Grant (Duldreaggan) , John aka John Duldreggan Grant aka Mr John Grant as he is shown holding Lots 25 & 26 South Side South Branch Raisin River [aka Street Road] on McNiff's Map 1786 . He had 16 children who lived in Glengarry and yet I find that none applied for land as son / daughter of Grant (Duldreaggan) , John . I call on UELAC to furnish their proof or Expunge his name . Author: alien71121 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.loyalists/757.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Kim, your "Col. Thomas Brown" is the famous Col. Thomas "Burnfoot" Brown[e] [1750-1825]. I have been researching him for about a month now. There is a good amount of information on "Burnfoot out there. Google "The Road to Cherokee". This is a reference to Cherokee Sound, Abaco Island, Bahamas. I believe Thomas "Burnfoot" Brown[e] is related to my line of Browns [ brownsociety.org family [DNA] group #33. I have traced my line of Browns back to the marriage of British soldier James Brown & Catharine/Katharine Fisher/Fischer. They were married in 1749, Schoonhoven, Zuid Holland, Netherlands. Both were born in Schoonhoven, James in 1723, Catharine in 1727. James served under British Capt. Johnston[e]. I believe both were Carolina Rangers, in mainly SC. during the war. James's son Robert Fisher Brown Sr. was born Nov. 8, 1759, Breda, Netherlands. Robert died in Habersham Co., GA., 1840. Today my mother's mtDNA showed a new close cousin DNA match, her [the match's] last name is Cameron. I have more information, if you're interested? Email me at the address below & we'll exchange genealogy files and related information. Some of my Browns were loyalists during the war, some patriots, & I may have found one that switched in the middle of the war, a Robert Fisher [a. k. a. Robert Fisher Brown Sr.?]? 1. [LOYALISTS] Loyalist Marriages in New York circa 1776
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: wdromanski Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.loyalists/778/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Ephraim Seeley was born in New Milford, Connecticut, before 1756. He took up with the Loyalist Guides and Pioneers around 1776. He apparently went to New York about the same time. He had three children between about 1776 and 1783, when he went to New Brunswick, Canada. All three children died after settling in New Brunswick, but many others were born afterward. Ephraim Seeley's wife's name was Ann, but her maiden name is not known. Since they had children names Joseph Gidney Seeley and Mary Olmstead Seeley, perhaps her name was Gidney or Olmstead. [I have not been able to determine any other connection of the names Gidney or Olmstead to this family.] They were married around 1776. No record can be found in New Milford, so my best guess is that they were married in Loyalist New York after the start of the Revolution. The family baptized their children in the Anglican Church in Gagetown, New Brunswick, in 1794, and descendants are known to also be Anglicans. My questions are: 1. Where should I be looking for the marriage record of Ephraim and Anna Seeley in Loyalist New York? 2. Would baptism records of the children be available? I am new to this list and fairly new to Loyalist research, so a little guidance would be appreciated. Trying to navigate the records of the numerous districts of New York City is rather daunting. I'd like to know which way to turn. Thanks for any advice or information. William D Romanski Rhode Island Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Simon Fraser Sr was not a Captain to our knowledge. He could not be in Glengarry Fencibles in Scotland as they were formed in the early 1790's years after he died in Albany NY. Captain Simon Fraser quoted as with the Glengarry Fencibles was a grand nephew of Simon Fraser married to Isabella Grant, Duldreggan.
