This morning I got an email from Angela Loy (she's my "Gopher" as far as finding Loy related sites ;-) She found this site regarding Loy's Shop in Alamance Co., NC from an 1895 map. <http://www.livgenmi.com/atncl.htm> But since you give Long's Shop as in the Draper's Meadow area, I wouldn't be surprised if an Ruby Johnson--not from the Carolinas to know the difference--had heard of both "Loy's Shop" and "Long's Shop" and confused the one in North Carolina as being in Virginia. One interesting note: Martin's granddaughter Elizabeth (Loy) Moser's daughter Catherine Moser md. John W. Harless (1786 VA30 October 1857 Madison Co., AL) s/o Henry [Sr.] and Charity Harless. Though I'm not researching the Harless family prior to the marriage to Catherine, it would be interesting to know if Henry Harless was any kin to Allen, the fact both families were from VA. DRW
