this data I just compiled from data I had both from the Archives and from the Thomas Balch genealogical library in Leesburg Va. I have had this data for years but just this moment redid reconciling it together. Here goes the first family I put together using the 1850 VA. census and a compilation from some historian who left the compilation of all families in the censuses in the Thomas Balch library. 1. Adam Loy b.1810 - married 1830 to Sarah Frye b. 1814 - who lived in Goresville at the time (I believe this is another name for the present day town of Gore near Winchester, VA). Their children - a. Mary C. Loy b. 1832 married 1856 to John Fawley b. Margaret Loy b. 1836 c. Thomas J. Loy b. 1844 married 1880 to Mary E. Umbaugh b. 1858 d. Adam Mason b. 1846 (probably know as Mason as the entry I saw in the census looked more like Mason or Moran - although it was difficult to read) married 1878 to mary Esther Frye b. 1857 (daughter to John M. Frye) e. Sarah b. 1846 f. Va. E. b. 1847 married 1875 to Wm H. Ryan (although I don't have data on her existence living with the family in the 18450 census) g. Jame b. 1848 The second family I just moment ago compiled is my g-g-grandfathers family; 1. John Loy b. 1810 married Catherine (I could never make out the last name of her father in the compilation in the Thomas Balch library) Their children: a. Fenton Loy b. 1831 b. Thomas Loy b. 1839 (carpenter who lived near Goresville) married 1869 to Mary J. Trittipoe b. 1850 (daughter to Saml Trittipoe) c. Wm Loy b. 1840 (although not listed with the family in the 1850 census) d. John W. Loy b. 1841 married 1869 to Jane E. Best b. 1843 (daughter to Albert Best - carpenter) e. George H. Loy b. 1843 married 1867 to Henrietta Cordell b. 1844 (daughter to Adam Cordell - carpenter) f. Joseph F. Loy b. 1844 (my great grandfather) married 1870 to Mary Catherine Shry b. 1850 (daughter to Wm Shry lived in the vicinity of Taylorstown) this in not my great grandmother but his first wife. g. Susan ? listed in 1850 census but not in the compilation in Thomas Balch h. Juliuis ? not sure of name as it is handwritten and difficult to read (also listed in 1850 census but not in compilation in Thomas Balch). i. Mary Ellen b. 1846 (not listed in 1850 census as living with this family but listed in compilation in Thomas Balch) married 1867 to Peter W. Fry More later.
