--part1_7c.1ad809ba.28c262e0_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Folks! This is a note I recentlysent to Delores regarding my recent research I did at the National Archives in Washington D.C. Thought you all would be interested in my findings so far and also thought I would add to the discussion some more. AS I mentioned below, I started in the very back room at the Archives, where I started on my first trip there when I first found my g-g-grandfather, john Loy b ca 1810 in VA. I had taken nothing with me that day as I went there on a whim. The back room contains all the indexes to the very early census records. This time though I also found indexes on passenger list sources. I only found 2 entries listed here under the name Loy. But I found alot of entries under the name Ley, which is the name John George Loy of Frederick ca 1750's first used. Here are the most interesting facts from that dig. Passenger and Innigration Lists Index, Filby and Meyer, Vol2 1. Ley, Christopher n.a.: Lancaster, pa. 1719 7820 p. 439 Rupp, Israel Daniel. A Collection of Upwards of Thirty Thnousand Names of German, Swiss, Dutch, French, and other Immigrants in Pennsylvania from 1727-1776 with a Statement of the Names of the Shjips Whence theyh sailed, and teh Date of Their Arrival at Philadelphia, Leipzig. (I am thinking this may well be the George Christopher listed in Delores's website ca 1697). 2. Ley, Hans Jurigh 28; Philadelphia, Pa., 1733 9041 p. 113 3. Ley, Johan Henrich 28; Philadelphia, Pa., 1733 9041 p. 765 4. Ley, Johan Henrich 13; Phildadelphia, Pa., 1733 9041 p. 767 5. Ley, Ludwig 25; Philadelphia, Pa., 1736 9041 p. 155 6. Ley, Matt n.a.; Philadelphia, Pa., 1733 9041 p. 112 7. Ley, Mattes n.a.; Philadelphia, Pa., 1733 9041 p. 110 8. Ley, Matheis n.a.; Philadelphia, Pa., 1733 7820 p. 85 9. Ley, Matthew 28; Philadelphia, Pa., 1733 9041 p. 106 10. Ley, Matthias n.a.; Philadelphia, Pa., 1733 6665 p. 554 Pennsylvania (Colony) Provincial Council. Munutes of the Provincial Council Of Pennsylvania from the Organization to the Termianation of the Proprietary Goernment. published byt the State, Harrisburg, Pa. There are many many others some of whom came into Va and not into Pa, some in the mid 1600's. But I thought this data interesting to share. Will share more later from that dig. Hope this helps someone. --part1_7c.1ad809ba.28c262e0_boundary Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Return-path: <BJMullinix@aol.com> From: BJMullinix@aol.com Full-name: BJMullinix Message-ID: <81.f5d24e1.28bf72c5@aol.com> Date: Thu, 30 Aug 2001 06:43:17 EDT Subject: Re: Questions on first Loy's in America To: Loy_Genealogy@att.net MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 4.0 for Windows 95 sub 122 Yes I have contacted many of the others. In fact, that is where I started from your website. The other interesting facts that I have not yet debated with anyone, simply because it is too lengthy a discussion right now perhaps is the fact that I live within 1 hour of the National Archives in Washington, D.C. where I have done alot of research on VA Loy's. I recently retraced my steps there and just started from the beginning again, having gone there unplanned, one day. In my last trip I started with the earliest info the Archives had on any Loy's in VA and copied down all info I could on any Loy in VA up through 1850-1860 censuses. Unless my eyesight fails me, I don't have a thing on the John Heinrich Loy's lines that Grady talked about in the Frederick Co, VA area in those early timeframes. None of his names match with any I find in the census records. So this cloudies the whole picture even more for everyone, I am sure. Thanks for your info. I will let you know if I connect anyone with my lineage. --part1_7c.1ad809ba.28c262e0_boundary--
