Dear Researchers, I have just recently been taught a hard lesson about viruses! Please, let me reassure you that you cannot "catch" a virus through the Rootsweb mailing lists. They do not distribute attachments, and therefore any virus coming through the list gets "cleaned." However, as I just learned, if someone reads your message from the list and then deletes it (without ever replying to you), the virus will cause a message to be sent to YOU with the virus attached, and a nice friendly text message saying "Take a look at this attachment." (or something to that effect). In genealogy, many of us send attachments after making a connection on a mailing list, so this is particularly dangerous! One of you just sent that message to me, and I got caught! So, please, would you all take a moment to update your anti-virus software? (I really don't need any more of those messages.)
