Frank Loy is a negotiator for the United States at the current meeting for limiting greenhouse gases. It seems it has become a tradition of some Environmental activists at some of these get togethers to throw a pie in the face of the person leading the delegation they are at odds with, and delegation leader? Frank Loy's turn was up. I do not know which branch of the Loys he is a member of but I suspect he is the Loy celebrity of the moment. He took it reasonably well and wiped the pie off his face and smiled bravely and continued to say whatever the US position is when he had removed enough pie to speak coherently. It is probably bad behaviour to throw a pie at such a serious gatherine but people have generally thrown much more harmful things at each other and while this makes a point and gains attention for the one side at the cost of a few hours in jail and a pie and it does no real harm (other than a certain loss of civility and the laundry bill) to the other. I do not remember if Frank ate any of the pie. I would be curious to know if any of you know of or are related to Mr. Loy and how he fits into the arger scheme of the Loy family. Paul is related to me twice on my mom's side (both her parents were Surratt before marriage) besides "shirt tail" kinship on the Loy side. He isn't really a Loy descendant, but his aunt married into the Loy family. I was glad to see he corrected the part about Isaac Loy, to be son of John ("Fisher") Loy. For a long time, he had it posted as being son of William Loy, Fisher's brother, until I showed him the TN census with Isaac and his wife and daughter in household with Fisher's widow Nancy Loy in 1860. One note: Emanuel Loy was another child, not "Isaac Emanuel". Emanuel married Margaret Macon in TN--he seems to have taken Isaac's place in caring for their widowed mother, as Nancy is with him in 1870, when Isaac was in Page Co., IA by then. I have records of Emanuel's descendants. He died in 1904 and was re-interred at New Loyston Memorial Cemetery. I noticed much of Paul's info derived from my site. Quite flattering! ;-) Delores p.s.
