RE: Andrew Loy - E-Bay Angela, I can't thank you enough for your tireless search and sharing with the rest of us Loy researchers. A few weeks ago you posted an alert to us that E-Bay had Old Family Papers for sale on the Loy family titles Conditions of Sale. This paper was from a Andrew Loy estate dated 1830. Though I could not make out the name of the executor who signed the paper, still it named Andrew Loy as the deceased for whom the sale of his estate was taking place. The seller, perhaps even you, had stated that the paper had Virg on it which was interpreted to mean the state of Virginia. That happens to be the very state where I do research as my Loy line is definitely from there. Well, I won the bid for the paper, sent my check off, and received the goods a few days later. THEN the good part comes in. This past weekend, I was searching for some more tax records to finish my taxes for last year, when I ran across a printout from one of your other searches you had alerted us to. I had printed out a list of solders from the War of 1812. And lo and behold there at the top of the list was Andrew Loy from the 7th regiment in the Virginia Militia. I don't have any clear evidence at all if he is related to me in any way. But this is an important find and link in the Loy line in VA. Keep up the good work! Love, Barbara

    3. Dear LOY Researchers, I have now moderated this list. That means that all posts to this list will come to me first, before they are distributed to our subscribers. I am sorry, but the past 24 hours have illustrated which rules I will not tolerate to be broken. You all received these rules when you subscribed, but I'll re-post them as a reminder. In order to be courteous to everybody, please follow the following simple rules. 1) Do not post virus warnings to the list. 2) Do not flame others that have posted to this list. There is "no tolerance" for any infraction to this rule. 3) Do not post copyrighted materials to the list. They will be removed without warning. 4) Above all else, enjoy the search for your ancestors and please feel free to ask questions and share information! I do apologize to those who have had no part in the last day, but I want to keep this list within the bounds of the above rules. Roxanne ListHostess

From the response his/her letter generated, he/she should be the one to unsubscribe to the Loy family site. I, too, am LDS and am following the Loys with great anticipation. I just recently found this connection in my Southern family and had no idea that any of my ancestors could have been part of the Mormon saga in Illinois and on through to Utah. It is exciting, to say the least! My ancestors are Louisa Loy [DeArmond] (of Marshall County, Alabama), daughter of George Loy Jr., son of George Loy Sr., son of Martin Loy of German descent. I would appreciate exchanging information with you, Margaret, if you are inclined to do so. And, please, consider re-subscribing to the Loy family web site. 2. AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! to you both Linda and Margaret! I do not like people who publicly slander others on the mailing list. It may be one thing to not like what or how another says something. But we can at least be civil and 1) write to the person off-line from the mail list (using personal e-mail address and 2) at least be civil minded in the language. It may be okay to say you are angry, disappointed or whatever privately, but then even there, you need to be as kind as possible while saying your concerns (but please let them be constructive criticism, and not just mouthing off). Although I have told someone I was angry about language I perceived as implying a grandiose attitude, hindsight has made me remorse for even that. Let's be mature and do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

    3. Margaret, In what language was your message written? I'm sorry to have to say this, but it is complete gibberish! Are grammar and punctuation still taught in American schools, or can you just not be bothered? If you have problems with the English language, I would suggest that you have your messages proof-read before sending them out. I have no wish to insult you, but to send out such garbage puts neither you nor the Loy family in a good light. ----- Original Message ----- From: Margaret Massey <margemassey@webtv.net> To: <LOY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 19, 2001 4:32 PM Subject: Re: [LOY] William E.
