I meant to address this and the last email to Georgia, who sent the email on Martin's family. Any dates given for Martin and Catherine have never been confirmed: the only thing we know was his will was proven in 1779, so most likely he died then. But as far as birth/marriage dates for either, no one has found any records to determine anything but a rough estimate of year. By the way, Martin and Catherine's second child was John Loy and last child was Henry Loy (my ancestor). Delores
Alpha, What are your sources for Catherine (Foust) Loy's death year? Also, their son George was only married once. His wife was Catherine Tillman. The "Mary" that people keep coming up with in their gedcoms (but not able to document!) is probably from confusing it with Maria, first wife of George Loy, son of John and Mary Holt Loy. This George and his brother John Loy, Jr. were in the 1804 Stoner's Church records. This George md. #2 to Nancy Ferguson in 1812. Some of their descendants have the middle name Tillman prevalant in their male line, so it is possible that Maria's maiden name was Tillman. It would also explain more of the confusion between both George Loys! The fact that the Foust families in NC (who later went to OH, IN and so on) seemed to keep the Foust spelling, I have spelled Catherine's surname as "Foust" as well. I do. I corresponded for several years with Nancy Elliott (now deceased), whose husband was a descendant of Nancy (Loy) Elliott. Her documentation supports the fact Nancy Loy was daughter of John and Jane (McCamish) Loy, son of William Loy and Barbara Ann (Albright) Loy, son of John Jr. and Philopena (Sharp) Loy, son of John and Mary (Holt) Loy, son of Martin and Catherine (Foust) Loy. Nancy Ann was born in January 1836 (or 1835) in Randolph Co., IN. Her father John Loy md. 23 July 1835 (Winchester, Randolph Co., IN) {by J. Paul Way, J.P.} Jane McCamish (1814 Greene Co., IN1839 [Randolph Co.?] IN) After her parents, John and Jane, died Nancy resided with her uncle and aunt Alexander and Lucinda Foust/Fouts/Phouts, who moved to Henry Co., IA. Nancy is found in the 1850 New London Twp., Henry Co., IA census, age 15, with the Fouts/Fousts and her maternal uncle Reese McCamish, age 18. It was said Nancy was orphaned before turning age 5, although her father's death year shows she would have been at least a few months over age 5. Nancy later left for Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., UT in 1852, in the 5th company under Capt. Weimer and was there about the time Margaret (Loy) Clapp and her son Benjamin Clapp were also there. Margaret, of course, was first cousin to Nancy's great-grandfather John Loy, Jr. Nancy Ann Loy md. 7 September 1851 (Mt. Pleasant, [Henry Co.?], IA or Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., UT) William White Elliott (12 January 1830 Ithaca, Tompkins Co., NY5 January 1887 Rio Vista, Solano Co., CA bur: Masonic Cemetery, "MT, UT, WY") s/o David and Margery (Quick) Elliott. I have info on descendants, which I had published in the book. Thanks for the link, Angela. Anna's husband, Thomas Loy, was a descendant of George and Catherine (Tillman) Loy's son Henry. I had known the year that his wife and two sons died, but it wasn't until the 3 May 1999 tornado in OK and KS that I heard on the news exactly when the 1925 tornado in IL occured. Thomas had married Annie Curry and they had three sons: Tommy (b. 1921), George (b. 1922) and Charles (b. 1924). George died in 1924 from an illness, and his two brothers died with their mother in the tornado. Their father Thomas remarried to a woman named Gladys, but Thomas died in 1938. I am trying to determine which Loy line this Nancy Ann comes from. Various sources have her coming from four different Loy lines. William White Elliott was the son of David Elliott who was known to have been part of the Mormon trek through Nauvoo to SLC and layed the cornerstone of the temple in SLC. William and Nancy left the Mormon church and eventually settled in Rio Vista, CA. Does anyone out there have any facts to support which line Nancy Ann comes from?

Dear Researchers, If you have been wondering about some "unattached" e-mails coming to the list ... The Gateway between the new boards and the mailing lists has been fixed. However, it is not, in any way, listed in the e-mail message that this is the source of a particular message. The only way that I've found to know that it's from the board, is that the "From:" field is "gc-gateway". Please notice this for a little while. This issue is being addressed, and hopefully will be corrected soon. Roxanne
That is the same family, we are related. Email me and I will give you information on a great family site.
Hello sorry it took me awhile. If your Frederick and Elisabeth are the son and daughter-inlaw of John George Loy or /ley of Frederick Maryland of 1733. from the ship Elisabeth. Then we are related. John George may have been Martin Loy older brother. who came over a year later.
I don't know how many of you are receiving the Rootsweb newsletter Missing Links, but in the latest it mentioned of a Genealogical survey being taken for a prospective weekly TV show on genealogy. The survey is annonymous, so researchers can contribute their thoughts without having to be put on a mailing list. Also, I saw that Rootsweb is going to combine the Rootsweb GenConnect and Ancestry's FamilyHistory.com message boards. This, of course, will include the Loy surname boards, which I oversee for GenConnect. One of the new features, when they combine, is for universal address correction, so users can update their own email addresses whenever needed. I know several of us have old postings with our old email addresses on them, so this will be a great addition. Delores p.s. I'm still awaiting my lost Bravenet password before closing down the Fortunecity site!

Delores, The mailing list has been set up to accept the gateway, too! Hopefully, we can all look forward to making more connections on the GenConnect Boards. This is how it works, the mailing list will automatically send any new post on the GenConnect Boards to our mailing list. You will see a "reply-to" URL at the top of the message. Please, do not reply on the list, as it is unlikely the person making the original post will see it on our mailing list. Just click through to the "reply-to" address, and then your response will also be posted on the mailing list. If this is not clear to anyone, please e-mail me with your questions at: LOY-admin@rootsweb.com Roxanne ListHostess -----Original Message----- From: Delores Rochelle Walls [mailto:Loy_Genealogy@att.net] Sent: Sunday, June 10, 2001 3:05 PM To: LOY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [LOY] New home for Loy website Hi again all, Now that I have all my Genconnect Boards linked to the new site, I am now officially at <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~loyhistory> All my links are set up now for the new address, such as the Rootsweb boards and the guestbook.
