I have corresponded with a descendant of Edwin and she wrote me that he was born in Baraboo, WI in 1858. I am trying to find a connection between my Loys who might have lived in Baraboo at that time and Edwin. My Loys, John R. and Hester S. Davis Loy were married in Mt. Carroll, Illnois in 1846, lived in Baraboo at the time of the Civil War in which he served, and moved to Hope, Kansas about 1877. Any clues to John R's. ancestry or whether he was related to Edwin?

Surnames: Loy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Eex.2ACIB/333.1 Message Board Post: Charles, I'm glad you posted here--after you signed my Loy Guestbook, I tried to email you but the email was returned. As for your question, I know what happened to confuse you. You are right, that the iron marker is of John ("Fisher") Loy, son of George and Catherine (Tillman) Loy. When "To Loys Crossroads" was first published, I noticed the error in it, which gave John ("Fisher") Loy's name mixed with his cousin John Loy, Jr. (who md. Philopena Sharp). I wrote the author, Mr. Tharpe, telling of this error, but he said this was info he had been given.Understandably, since he is only a Loy "in-law," he didn't have extensive research to catch this big error. As for Ola and Oma, I was told that they were twins.Oma died in 1872 and she married Clyde Hobert Hutcheson. As for my first email to you, which was returned, I'd said that I had your family down to Sherman Guerney Loy and _____ Brantley (who was sister to Ulyses' wife Bessie) and their son Cleveland who "died in teens in 1935." I got this info from the census and Sherman's marriage from a granddaughter of Ulysses Loy. She didn't give me much on your line, though, just that. So any new info would be welcome. Please email me-- I also have a couple of conflicting dates on your branch, which maybe you could help me straighten out. By the way, I added a post script to your guest book message, that you left out one generation. John P. was son of Emanuel and Margaret (Macon) Loy, who was son of John ("Fisher") Loy. You had left out Emanuel. your 6th cousin 1x removed (my dad would have been 6th cousin to you), Delores

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Eex.2ACIB/332.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for the help. Here is what I know. John Randolph Loye is my grandfather he married Anne Carter. They lived on a farm in the Buffalo Creek area of Guilford however they may have been from Orange, CO or Alamance Co originally. My father was Johnny P. Loye he and his siblings were born in Guilford Co. My father always talked about visiting an Uncle Jesse, when he was a child. I always thought that he was my grandfather's brother but it not very sure now simple because he never mention the last name. Also when I was a child my dad brought me to a Church near Burlington or Gibsonville called Ossippee(?) Chapel. He said his family went there and he had several young siblings that were burried at the church. Also, my mother gave me a book she received at a Loy family gathering in the 80s. A man name William Porter Kellam wrote the book, he was a descendant of Elizabeth Loy Wyrick. Somehow I am related to them. In his book he states his Grandmother's father was Julius Hardy Loy(1799-1880) who married Catherine Isley! (no date given). There is also a John Loy (1747-1840) listed who married a Mary Duffie Holt and died in Orange County, NC. They had six children, Martin, John, George, Jacob, Henry and Mary. Next he list Henry Loy that was listed as marring Sophia Albright. There is only one child listed in the book for Henry and Sophia and that is Julius Hardy (mentioned above) . That is about all I can remember now.

Later Michael Ingle migrated into the > Miami County Wilderness in 1804. He was twice married and had > totel of eleven children. > Morning List, To add to what Joe sent to the list regarding Michael Ingle I thought I would add a little. I am not an Ingle researcher but I do research his wife's family. The first wife of Michael Ingle was Catherine Swartzel who was born in 1761 and died in 1828. While no actual dates are available her tombstone has been read that she died in 1822. Her father was Johan Mathias Swartzel who arrived in Philiadelphia on Oct. 21, 1754 with his father and brother on the ship Snow Good Intent. Mathias spent some time in the Lebanon and Lancaster counties of Pennsylvania for several years and was married to Catherine Barbara Laey(Loy) on Dec. 2, 1760 by Rev. Johan Casper Stoever. Since Catherine Swartzel Ingle was their first born child it is probable that she was born in Lebanon county though it is possible that she was born in Lancaster county as that is where her maternal grandfather lived at that time. When Johan Mathias Swartzel moved to Bedford county, Pennsylvania is not exactly known but he was there by at least the 1790 census and may have been there before that. It was in this locale that Michael Ingle and Catherine Swartzel were highly likely to have been married. The children I have for Micheal and Catherine are as follows. John(1787-1862), Jacob(1789-bef. 1820), Michael(1793), Philip(1793-1865), Abraham(1794), Adam(1796-1853), Henry(abt. 1798), Mathias(abt. 1800-1885), Catherine(1802), Eve(abt. 1803), Sarah(1804) and another who died unnamed for a total of twelve children. According to research not done by myself but which checks out Michael Ingle moved to German township, Montgomery county about 1799-1800 where some children were born and then moved to the area of Covington in Miami county, Ohio. I do know that he spent some time in German township but the actual time span can not be confirmed. His children from Mathias on down were all born in Ohio. Now I'm wondering if maybe my Jacob was your Jacob's firstborn son and not accounted for since he moved out of state? Has anyone come across your Jacob's will or probate that you know of? You do say "other children", so is there a Jacob listed as a son of your Jacob, b. 1775 or so? Teddy
