    3. I have already spoken to Marge about using the list for this purpose. Let there be no more comments about it! It definitely was not meant that way at all.

    2. Hmmm! That is interesting that you mention a Milton Loy. My father was named Ernest Milton Loy. I believe I know the man he may have been named after for the Ernest part of it. But if my family is related to this Milton's line it is quite possible that the Milton part came from here. I plan to try to interview some older aunts and uncles. Did not know how to gently pry some info out of my oldest aunt as she once told me she did not want to talk about her childhood as it was not a good one. I have a book I bought as a gift to myself for Christmas that has many good interview questions that are asked just the right way to possibly convince relatives to talk about some of their relatives in a good way.

    2. You know Marge, I am really sorry if you took my comments as "wisecracks". It definitely was not meant that way at all. I sure do not know what it was about my comments that was so offensive to you. I do know that this is not the first time that you took offense to someone correcting your spelling. Believe me it was in no way done in any effort to poke fun at you or anyone else or to be a "wisecrack" about it. I would suppose that this is why I have not heard others posting to this mail list lately that I used to love to hear from. If we have to tiptoe around others who take offense so easily and are too proud or whatever to be corrected, then I can understand why others have not posted on this list for awhile. Again, I am sorry, but I will tell you that I have NO intentions of spending my life apologizing to you for such little things as politely (or so I thought) correcting someone's spelling, not even yours. Yes I am bold but that is just how I have become because I work with too many people in the Washington D.C area who have become so snooty with me that they have no problem making jokes about rednecks as they call them that now I speak up when someone offends me.

    3. I corresponded with Henry Milton Loy, Jr.'s brother William Ward Loy back in the late 1980s. Their father Henry Milton Loy, Sr. was son of Milton Loy, who was son of Milton Loy, who was son of Jacob Loy, who was son of John and Mary (Holt) Loy. Nellena was H.M. Loy, Jr.'s wife. William Duncan Loy's father was John A. Loy, son of Milton Loy. In other words, William Duncan Loy was first cousin to Henry Milton Loy, Jr. They are all listed in my book. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Eex.2ACIB/334.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Just want to clear up some misspellings in various postings I have seen on this person/subject. I live here in the Frederick, MD vicinity, have all my life, and I research my father's Loy family history out of Lessburg, Va near here. Anyway, graceman should read Graceham. This is a little town in northeastern Frederick County, MD. There is a covered bridge near Graceham named The Loy's Station Covered Bridge and it has been the subject of many a local artist. Anyway, the bridge was the site of an early settlement for John George Loy and fellow settlers traveling through the region. There were other Loy's listed in local history books as having contributed to the settlement at Loy's Station Covered Bridge within 1 mile of Graceham. Another town in that near vicinity that is common to this posting is named Thurmont, MD. The misspelling had it as Thurmount, I believe. In Thurmont, MD is the Apples Church, still in existence, which has a cemetery that holds some early Loy ancestors, but I don't have it before me just who they are. Hope this helps clear up some misspellings of names in MD.

    3. To all my Listers, I do wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May you find a genealogy-related present underneath your tree, or may you make a HUGE discovery at the holiday table while talking with your relatives. Those two wishes rank equally with me! If any of you are interested in my life outside of genealogy, please visit www.masterharper.com. We've posted our Christmas letter complete with pictures (much better than a snail mail letter). If any of you have another special genealogy wish, please post them to the list. Roxanne ListHostess
